Macro extension tube set with focus confirmation for Canon EOS (D)SLR Camera Body

This brand new set of 19.94mm, 17.77mm and 29.95 mm aluminium rings can be combined eight ways to provide different magnifications. They have 58mm filter threads so can also be used to reverse your Canon zoom or other lens with 58mm filter thread. This provides very flexible macro options.
 
The built in "AF Confirm" chip tells your camera that the lens is in manual mode, allowing the "in-focus" lights to operate correctly in the viewfinder. You need to set the aperture by hand however you can set your camera to Aperture Priority (Av) mode to use the camera's automatic exposure facility. The chip allows all metering modes supported  by your camera.

To get the focus confirm to work with older film cameras and 1Ds which have a mechanical AF switch you will need to set the switch to the "on" position. I have done this by propping it with a small wad of paper. Owners of later EOS cameras do not have this problem as AF is switched electronically

The chip provides focus confirmation only. There is no electronic connection to the lens.

Light can leak into the tube around the lens lock catch. If this is found to be a problem it should be turned away from the light source or covered with a strip of electrical tape.

The AF Confirm chip is vulnerable to sharp blows and static discharge so you should always attach the rear cap when not in use.

Waffle
Manually set the lens aperture as required. Use large apertures for low light or when you want a defocussed background. Use small apertures in bright light for greater depth of field. Use the camera's Av mode for automatic exposure. You will need to set focus by hand. This takes a little practice as the modern viewfinders are not so easy to judge as the old split focus type. Using smaller apertures considerably increases your margin for error. For reliable pin-sharp focus select an AF Confirm adapter which will activate the focus lights in your viewfinder.
