This semi-nude African woman carved wood statue is just lovely. Not sure if it's an antique or a vintage piece, as I don't know it's age. It is made of a black wood, perhaps ebony, and has been treated with some sort of wax overlay and a light stain or paint which is somewhat peeling. This effect makes it look even older and gives it a multi-colored hue.
Her expression is quite serious. Her hands are placed in front. She looks to be covering or protecting her womanhood. Very intriguing figure. Measures 10 1/8" H x 1 3/4" W at the base. What a wonderful cultural piece. Buy it now and add it to your ethnocentric collection.
