ALL GRADING DONE VISUALLY!!!
SS,NM,EX,VG+,VG,VG-,and G ; very similar to Goldmine standards. PLEASE NOTE an "N/A" description indicates that it is "not applicable" (as in a media grade for a picture sleeve)
SS-Still sealed!!!
NM:Near Mint; We don `t like to use Mint for used items. Some of our NM items could go for M somewhere else. For covers, picture sleeves and vinyl this means nearly perfect, maybe a slight scuff or two on the vinyl. Virtually a new item!
EX:Excellent; (Or in other circles.. VG++,+ad infinitum). For covers,or picture sleeves, maybe a bent corner, slight ring or edge wear, usually jus t one or two small flaws. No large writing, tape, or seam splitting allowed. For vinyl, a few more scuffs, or very light surface scratches, should not affect play. A record with nothing but a little juke box swirl would fall here, even though it might sound NM!!
VG+:Very Good Plus; For covers and picture sleeves, bent corner, ring, edge, cover wear, small writing, stickers may be present, but only a few of these flaws. Slight seam splitting allowed. For vinyl , surface scratches might be present, and upon playing, a few pop or clicks may be heard.
VG:Very good; For covers,or picture sleeves, more pronounced wear than VG+ with the possiblity of seam splitting and tape. For vinyl, more surface scratches and a few deeper scratches may be found. When playing, background noise will be noticed. Sometimes records with little or no scratches but with groove wear (turning white) will fall into this category, and causes some treble distortion. (Great for jukeboxes with filters!!!) This would be noted in description. Still, a decent record!
For VG-and G+ records, these are offered only if the record is deemed scarce enough. For covers, they will be marred with heavy ring, edge and cover wear, large seam splits etc. For vinyl, they will play through although with background noise. Also, this might include well cared(little scratching) for but infintely played material, grooves almost white!! (played to death!!)
