You are bidding on a vintage compy of the tragedy Agnes Bernauer, written by Christian Friedrich Hebbel!
The original drama was written in 1855 and based on the true story of Agnes Bernauer.
The action is based on an episode in Bavarian history (1428-36), the secret marriage of Albrecht heir to the Wittelsbach Duke Ernst of Bavaria/Munich, which ended in the arrest of his wife, the Augsburg barber's daughter Agnes Bernauer. She was tried, condemned to death for witchcraft, and drowned in the Danube at Straubing in 1435.
This edition is printed entrely in German, so we are unsure when it was printed. Similar books by this publisher were printed in 1914, so this book is most likely 90+ years old! If there are any eBay buyers who have better knowledge of when this book was printed, we invite any comments or corrections!
The book is in very good vintage condition. The spine is bent from several readings, but it is intact. Modest cracks at the edges and some light creases on the cover, but there are no damged pages or pen marks!
