We are Pleased to offer this stunning AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL Contemporarily published Vintage (1933) item by F.R. Crozier & G.C. Benson, Australian Officially Commissioned War Artists.
In Early 1915, At Mena Camp in the Shadow of The Great Pyramids in Egypt, The First Australian Division Including Australian Light Horse Battalions as depicted in this print, spent 4 Months training for Active Service. Prior To Deployment At Gallipoli in April 1915.
The intensely tough training regieme, wearing Full marching & riding order at all times, was designed to acclimatise men and horses to the harsh desert climate and was comparable to the training undertaken by the French Foreign Legion. This was to prove valuable in the battles & campaigns to follow in which The A.I.F. showing exceptional courage & fortitude made its mark in The Battles at Gallipoli & later at Palestine & Damascus in the Middle East campaigns.
