This mini die grinder is a small handheld tool which turns a burr or mounted abrasive stone at high speed. It is pneumatic (powered by compressed air). The burr or stone is held in a collet and may be changed as required by the task at hand. The rotational speed of a pneumatic die grinder is adjusted by a hand-operated throttle lever, which allows the operator to vary the volume of compressed air entering the tool. Die grinders are used to grind or cut away small amounts of metal from a workpiece. The name comes from their use in touching up hardened steel dies.
