This is a very nice Akai from about 1974 or so. It plays well, records clean and all buttons and meters work. The only issue I had with this and another identical model I own is that at times when switching from auto reverse to auto reverse, one channel will drop away..but it comes back afer a restart or tapping on the head cover. The connections are all solid and clean..it just seems to be a characteristic of this unit with age. The auto reverse works fine otherwise, heads are very clean! This machine has a scratch or two on the top black metal cover and a blemish or two on the simulated wood side pieces. This unit records and plays back very clean! Otherwise, this machine is all steel and very heavy! Buyer pays shipping and handling-she'll need lots of padding too...Thanks!
