AKG C 414 EB Condenser Microphone
You are bidding on an AKG C 414 EB Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone. This mic is cosmetically challenged. The screen is held in place by gaff tape. The mic is in good working order, with all the switches working as they should, having been tested here in our shop through our PA with Phantom Power. I pulled these specs and description from the AKG webiste:
The twin-diaphram system enables the selection of four different microhpne polar patterns. The diaphram is manufactured from a special gold-flashed plastic foil. The gold layer is deposited onto the diaphram only on the outer side to prevent short circuiting to the main electrode when extremely high sound pressure levels are applied to the microphone. Pre-attenuation before the output stage is incorporated to permit the increase of undistorted maximum sound pressure level by 10 or 20 dB for close-up recordings. This technique inhibits distortion in the small transformers used in the microphone's output or sound mixer inputs. The incorporated bass-cut circuitry will reduce the risk of distortion at low frequencies. This feature is especially useful to combat wind noise and stage floor vibrations. The slope of the bass-cut filter is more than 12 dB/octave, the cut-off frequency maybe set to 75 Hz or 150 Hz. The all-metal housing adds to the rejection of r.f. interference when the microphone is used close to transmitter stations or in conjunction with wireless microphones ot other communication equipment. A recessed swich on the front enables the user to select any one of four different polar patterns to adjust for different recording situations. Four different types of microphones are thus combined in only one C414 EB. The chosen polar patterns are almost frequency independent to guarantee the same sound character for all angles in incidence. A standard 3 pin XLR-type connector inables the use of all conventional audio cables for low impedance microphoness (two-core, screened studio-tye cables). Powering the microphone is symmetrically via the audio lines in phantom powering technique (DIN 45 596) to keep interference from neighbouring light installation etc. as low as possible.
