From a collection of late XIXth Century Albumin Albumen photographic prints by A. Calavas of Drawings by Adolph Picard. The artists are listed in numerous art references, including but not limited to Akoun, Piron, and ArtPrice. A. Calavas is renowned for his albumin prints les etudes anatomiques (anatomical studies and nudes) , floral ornamentation , baroque and roccoco cartouches and ornamental borders; along with other pioneers of ornamental movement within borders Maybridge, Picard and Grasset. This selection is from a collection of 48 albumen photograph plates of decorative ornamentation published by A. Rozier in 2 volumes as shown in the photo of folio 2 below, containing A. Calavas (active 1860-1870) original signed drawings photographed, printed and mounted as albumen print plates by Picard. The folios are titled "L'Ornementation Fleurie" (Flowery Ornamentation). Volume 1 and Volume 2. Each folio volume contained 24 original albument photograph plates for a total of 48, and each was hand mounted by L. Vallantin, who also developed the photographs and created the actual albumin plates. They are all signed A. CALAVAS in the plate somewhere on each drawing, and most mats are stamped with an embossed seal on the boards as shown below that reads: "Photographie Artistique Commerciale Et Industrielle, L. Vallantin, 101res Rue d'Alesia, Paris" (English: "Artistic, Commercial, and Industrial Photography, L. Vallentin, 101 Alesia Street, Paris"). The ink stamp of the publisher appears on the back of the boards and is shown below. No dates, and yes, this means our word for it. While the individual albumen plates vary somewhat in individual size, all of them are mounted on the same size board, 12.5 inches x 18.75 inches. All the albumen photograph plates are in good to better condition, with only occasional minimal fading of their sepia tone, and only an occasional chemical printing error by the printer. They are all in the exact precise and detailed condition shown in our exhaustive photographs of them. The boards show aging, in particular around the edges where there is occasional fading, small tears or edge tape. We personally carried these over the Berlin wall, from East Berlin into West Berlin, in 1971.

Les tirage albuminé ont vendu par Galerie Koller en Zurich cet année pour plus de USD$350. chaque piece. Autre résultats des ventes passées cet année sont avec Millon & Associés http://www.millon-associes.com/ Toutes les planches sont le meme taille de 48cm x 32cm ; il y est un peu variation avec les tailles des images parce que chaque est unique. Tout les photos sont en trés bon état; les bords sont légèrement fripés. Les tirages ont la teinte légèrement "miel"sepia commune à ce type de photographie.
