It is approximately 1960, and Bill Wilson is being recorded as he shares amongst a small group of AA members in a informal setting . . .

Bill begins his dialog telling the members listening that he was speculating about the  early days of AA and had pondered the consequential meaning of those days in terms of the Grace of God.

He continues with this thought further and equates this meaning in the form of a metaphor . . .  Like  a grain of wheat stored for centuries in a dry place,  that is then exposed to the right Soil, Climate and Light from Above . . . . and how when exposed correctly it will manifest life and will unfold and grow.     Bill Wilson believes that this is how Grace is 'Gifted' at Alcoholics Anonymous.

He talks about the new Soil and the new Light and brings up how the Drs. were amazed at the recovery of some of the early members of AA.      How the Drs. saw transformation, shifts in motivation, in a matter of weeks, and months.  and these were in very grim cases of despairing alcoholics.     They talked about the X factor and this is what the Drs. called it;   but in AA we call it the Grace of God.    Cannot be explained.

Bill further explains Grace by using the example of Marty Mann, Roland Hazard, Carl Jung, Ebby H., Sam Shoemaker, Dr. Silkworth and others . . . and  he explains how the "Soil and new Light" played its part with these people in the early 1930s.
