George C. Howe is recorded as working as George C. Howe & Co. in New York City for only two years: 1839 and 1840. For several years before and after this he worked in partnership with others.
These three heavy 9 inch servers are free of unusual wear or damage and have a beautiful patina. Their pointed bowls are without wear or roll, and other than a shallow dimple in one there are no dings, scratches, breaks or repairs. Each straight, turned-down handle has a short back mid-rib and broad drop, and each is monogrammed " C J B " in flowing period script. The maker's mark, GEO.C.HOWE&CO in a rectangular punch with pseudomarks, is on the handle's reverse.
