AMISH NEEDLEPOINT ARM REST or PINCUSHION
"BASKETWEAVE" PATTERN
Made about 1920-30 in Pennsylvania by an Amish Maker. Size: 14 inches Long and 4 inches Wide. Colors: Green, Gray, Black and Yellow
There are two detachable "tabs" of fabric that are visible on the photo. These secured the ARM REST/PINCUSHION in place for sewing activities.
The Amish people's awareness of the infinite is captured in this remarkable little item. The Interlacing Basketweave pattern and rich color selection are characteristic of the Plain People whose only artistic means of expression was in the simple everyday necessities of quilts, rugs and cushions.
