THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL, LARGE AND INTRICATE PENDANT. IT WAS HAND CRAFTED IN INDIA AND THE STERLING SILVER FLOWERS WERE CARVED. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL AMMONITE FOSSIL! THE BACKING IS PART SILVER AND OPEN A LITTLE SO YOU CAN SEE THE BACKSIDE OF THE FOSSIL AS WELL. THE BAIL IS VERY LARGE TO BE USED WITH MOST ANY CHAIN OR CHOKER AND IS ON THE VERY UPPER BACK OF THE TOP FLOWER.
MEASURES: 2 3/8" LONG AND IS 1 6/8" WIDE AT THE WIDEST POINT.
AMMONITES LIVED IN THE WORLD'S OCEAN'S OVER 415 MILLION YEARS AGO. THEY ARE NOW EXTINCT AND THEY ARE FOUND IN THE FORM OF FOSSILS. THE EXTINCTION OF THE AMMONITES COINCIDED WITH THE EXTINCTION OF DINOSAURS.
