Two lovely smaller sized ancient tabular shaped mosaic glass eye beads from the Mediterranean Sea region, dating from the Roman period or somewhat later, about 400 to 1100 AD, more or less. Basically these beads are made from pierced slices of fabricated mosaic glass cane that might have otherwise been part of a larger glass bead, bowl or vessel from the period. The condition is mostly good, showing great age and wear overall, about 9 to 10 mm in diameter. This is a fairly closely matched pair, which can be difficult to find. Photographs have been enlarged and may appear larger than the actual size of the objects. Colors may appear differently on the viewer's computer. |
