More scarce vintage cornets from the collection of the man with the houseful of horns! This is a nickelplated shepherd's crook cornet made in New York by the Bruno company. I'd date this to about 1900 by the style of the wrap and the flat-spring water key. I do not have a Bb shank for this cornet - it will come with the A shank you see in the photos and the generic period mouthpiece also shown. Plays in modern pitch. All the slides are free and the valves are smooth and not leaky. The leadpipe has a couple dings that our repairman could not get at. There is a missing pull tab on the second slide. The bell is engraved "C. Bruno & Sons Special Grade New York." Bruno goes back to 1834 in New York, and made instruments with trade names Lafayette, Paris; Perfackton; Perfection; Henry Pourcelle, Paris; La Vesta; Vocotone. This instrument is overall in great condition, needing only a new cork at the water key to be useful. Bore is .460 and the bell measures 4 1/2 inches. Finish is very lightly worn, only needs shining up.
