Victorian Silver Plate Three Piece Water Set~ Aesthetic Design~

James W. Tufts~Butterfly, Flowers, & Hummingbird

 






 

A Fine American Victorian Silver Plate Water Set.   A complete set is not often seen, often the cups and water pitchers survived.  The three piece serving set from the Aesthetic Movement period dating to the late 1800's was beautifully crafted by James W. Tufts of Boston, the quadruple plate set wears the period "nature design" with flowers, a butterfly, and a hummingbird.   The set may have been given as a 50th. anniversary gift.  One side is engraved 1837; the other side is engraved 1887.  

The set retains most of the original silver plate, with some areas needing more cleaning if preferred.   As seen in the last picture, the plate under both cup and pitcher is in almost perfect condition

Measurements: pitcher, 11 inches high; cup 4 inches high; tray 11 inches long X 8 inches at the widest part.

 The pitcher and serving tray are in  good condition with normal surfaces scratches as expected for age and use.  The cup (when viewed from the top) is slightly out of round. All three pieces have some scratches, (most on the under side) and traces of tarnish in the design.    The dark areas at the top of the pitcher and cup are a reflection of my camera, and not tarnish.

The item must be packed, shipped, and insured in the same manner. If item is sent with a signature required on delivery it must be returned with signature required.
