ANTIQUE 1890 GEORGIAN 50" CARVED MAHOGANY PARTNERS DESK

AN ANTIQUE, ca. 1890, ENGLISH GEORGIAN STYLE SOLID MAHOGANY PARTNERS DESK. THE TALL CABRIOLE LEGS HAVE PRONOUNCED CARVED CLAW FEET, WITH CARVED ACANTHUS LEAF KNEES. ABOVE ON THE CASE CORNERS ARE RAISE CARVED ACANTHUS LEAVES. THE DRAWERS HAVE FANCY GILT BRASS PIERCED BACKPLATES AND BAIL PULLS, AND ESCUTCHEONS. THE BEVEL EDGED TOP MAHOGANY BOARDS HAVE A MAHOGANY VENEERED SURFACE. CARVED SCROLLS AT ENTRY TO THE KNEEHOLES. DESK MEASURES 30" TALL BY 50" WIDE BY 33" DEEP. VERY GOOD CONDITION: ORIGINAL FINISH TO THE SURFACE, EXCEPT THE TOP HAS BEEN VERY NICELY REFINISHED AND MATCHED IN COLOR TO THE REST OF THE DESK. MINOR CHIPPING TO THE LOWER FRAME BELOW EACH DRAWER . ONE DRAWER LOCK STUCK OPEN, THE KEY NOT WORKING TO CLOSE THAT LOCK, BUT WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK THE OPPOSITE SIDE's DRAWER LOCK. MISSING A CARVED SCROLL TO ONE KNEEHOLE ENTRY. THIN RING SPOT ON EDGE OF TOP SURFACE. UNDERSIDE MARKED: B. H. CO. NO. 905.
