ANTIQUE 1900 UZBEK SILK HAND EMBROIDERED STRIP "KOZIK LUNGI"



Offered here is the Uzbek silk Panel-"Kozik lungi". In the 19th century till 1930's such embroidered strips were used for home decoration. From Uzbek "kozik"-a wooden peg drove in a wall of a room in the traditional old Uzbek houses; "lungi"- loincloth for a bath. "Koziklungi"-decorative towel embroidered from both ends. The piece is from Tashkent. Circa: 1900. Natural silk hand embroidery in bright colors on handmade natural silk "Shohi" made in Ferghana valley. Fergana valley is truely motherland of all traditional usbek silk fabrics or "abr". There was produced silk of the top quality. This hand-loomed fabric was used only for clothes of elite. Manufacture of such fabric was limited.
