ANTIQUE 1920-30's CHINESE PICTORIAL RUG. FULL PILE. WOW

OLD VINTAGE 1920's - 1930's CHINESE PICTORIAL LANDSCAPE RUG, Northern China, Paotou-Suiyuan region, early 20th century, and coming in full pile condition. The exact size is: 2'-6" x 4'-7" (76 x 140 cm). Woven at a time period in China when both natural and non-natural dyes were used, this specimen displays a colorfully plumed peacock in a landscape scene. The pile is allover thick and full. There is one nick out of the very top right corner and the bottom end needs to be sewn back secure (see close up photos). The top end is original with rows of cotton plain-weave and the warps tied in knots. The side cord over-castings on both sides are original and complete. This weaving is a recent estate find where it was found hanging on the wall as a decorative art statement, hence the full pile condition. It does not seem to ever haver been walked upon. The rug is a bit dusty and would greatly improve in appearance with a professional cleaning. Any competent rug repair shop can easily fix the corner and secure the bottom end to prevent future loss of knots if the weaving is to be used as a floor rug. Rarely does one find one of these types in such full pile condition.
