Description
FROM AN UPSTATE NEW YORK ESTATE
WE HAVE A 5 FEET 10 INCHES TALL SOLID WOOD HANDCARVED TOBACCO STORE INDIAN
CIRCA 1920s
According to the provenance from the estate he stood guard at a Cigar Tobacco Store in Sturbridge Village Massachusetts
He is life size and standing on a wood base that is 13" wide by 20" long. Holding his rifle with handcarved feathers. His hair is braided the carving in just that is spectacular. Bear claw necklace handcarved around his chest. Handpainted feathers & paints. The detail on this old indian is amazing.
There is some age cracks in the wood but it is so solid that it does not go all the way through and consistent with the age of this antique. One of the handcarved feather in the back of the head is a little loose.
We have enjoyed him for 4 years and will make a perfect addition to any decor
