BLACK AMERICANA 1935 Cotton Hop Invitation & Doll Up for bid is a set of 1935 Black Americana items from North Side High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana, dated June 1, 1935. The card is an invitation to a 'Cotton Hop' and has a banjo player on the front. Inside is the date of the dance, and a grid to list the names of those the cardholder danced with. The grid was unused. Also included in this set is a cloth doll which was included as part of the invitation. My grandmother (she was a student then) explained to me that these items were put together and given to her and other students at the end of the school year. In fact, this 'Cotton Hop' was their 'Prom.' These pieces of Black American History are all original. They are 74 years old, and have been very well preserved. They are in outstanding condition, and are mint-to-near-mint. Because the card was printed especially for the event, there were only about 100 produced. This may very well be the only one left in existance. These items will be very carefully boxed for shipment. Please see pictures and ask any questions before bidding/buying. BID WITH CONFIDENCE!
