The Shakers had a large brush-making industry.  This is a particularly nice example. First, it's stamped with a number, "13," indicating it might have been used in the community. The handle is elegantly turned, with a smooth transition from handle to head. Crisp turnings / rings on the edge of the head, and the horse hair bristles in excellent condition.
CONDITION: Excellent condition, with just a little wear to the varnish on the top of the head (see photo).
