Cased Silver gilt needlework set - France C1870

Description: The elegant tools in this lovely necessaire are nestled into the carved out interior of a solid case.

The pieces are all gilded sterling silver with hand engraved scrolling designs.

The set consists of scissors, needlecase, stiletto, bodkin and thimble.

The thimble and the bodkin have the French Boar’s head silver hallmark for Paris after 1938.

The needle case is stamped inside the collar with the French Boar’s head silver hallmark

and the maker marks lozenge and same hallmarks are on the scissors finger loops.

Everything fits the case perfectly and it is obvious they all belong there.

The scissors have tight blades, sharp points and cut like new to the tips.

The thimble is in perfect round condition with no dents, holes or severe damage,

just some minor loss to the gilding. All of the tools are in excellent condition with no dents, repairs or other damage.

The case is also in excellent condition with no chips or damage and a lovely patina.

It closes well with a push button catch and measures 4 3/8" – 11 cm by 2 1/4" – 5,5 cm.

The hinges and fittings are silver gilded
