Ebay is now asking buyers to rate different aspects of the transaction with a star system (called DSR’s –Detailed Seller Ratings).
They are not being completely fair or clear about how this affects the sellers and keeps their prices from going up further.
Even though Ebay has slightly lowered Insertion Fees for listing auctions, they have raised the Final Selling Fees by almost 50% in the recent months.
In order to receive a small discount, we must receive an average of 4.8 out of 5 on every star rating.
This means that in Ebay’s view, a 4 is a negative, even though it does not say this.
Even if 4 stars says ‘Accurate’ meaning the description of the auction was accurate or if 4 stars says ‘Quickly’ meaning the package arrived quickly or even if 4 stars says ‘Reasonable’ for price of shipping, choosing any of these actually will result in a ‘failure’ for the seller for that auctions final rating.
We must receive all 5’s to even get a light discount.
The discount helps us to keep our prices at where they are right now, so please, if you enjoyed your transaction at all, please reward us with 5 stars or we will need to start raising our prices and will have a sincere effect on future auction pricing.
