ANTIQUE ESTATE SILVER GOLD WASH CAMEO PENDANT BROOCH


From the estate of Rita (you can read about her on my ''About Me'' page).  Her mother was an immigrant from Italy, who married in 1916.  I have checked with Rita's daughter, and established that indeed, this cameo pendant brooch is from turn-of-the-century Italy!

The beautifully carved, flawless shell cameo is set in 800 silver, which in turn is covered by a gold vermeil wash.  It is tipped below to show that the setting has two levels, rather than one.  It has both a clasp and a small loop to hang it on a necklace.  There is a very little tarnish on the edge of the lower level of the setting.  Otherwise, no flaws to note.  This is an amazing piece!  The photos do not convey the stunning color of the metal in person.


Size & Dimensions: The brooch measures 1 3/4 of an inch in length, not counting the loop, and 1 1/4 inch in width.  It is just under 1/2 an inch from top to bottom lying flat.
