Up for auction is an antique flow mulberry platter by John Heath in "Tonquin" pattern, measuring 10 1/4 by 13 1/2" by 1 3/8" high. Platter is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. Octagonal platter does have scattered utensil wear marks visible under strong light and 2 small flat organic spots on its rim that show in photos- this antique Staffordshire platter is in extraordinary condition.
Oriental motifs are very desirable and have their own category discussed in Staffordshire Romantic Transfer Patterns, by Petra Williams, 1978. Platter marks say "JH Tonquin" and and impressed "J Heath", for Staffordshire pottery John Heath, dating the platter to ca 1845-1853.
The "Tonquin" pattern is an especially nice specimen with a full and varied scene within the central portion of the platter, as well as a lovely border of flowers and scrollwork in the broad rim. Nice for a collection and nice to find flow mulberry, a bit more rare than the flow blue. Offered at a low opening bid and a reserve commensurate with the rarity and quality of this example.

For US Buyers, Whistling Yankee accepts PayPal, money orders, bank checks, and personal checks. Money orders are preferred but all other modes of payment are happily accepted, so it is your choice.
For International Buyers, payment is accepted via PayPal only, and Buyers must have confirmed PayPal addresses. Please include your phone number with your payment as US customs paperwork now requires that information.
Payment is requested within 7 days and swift payment is greatly appreciated! Auctions which remain unpaid after 10 days will result in the cancellation of your auction purchase transaction, so the auction item may be relisted. Thank you! |

USPS shipping, if specified, is by USPS Priority Mail and charges are calculated based on your zip code, package weight, and whether insurance is requested. Actual true shipping cost is charged as calculated in eBay's shipping calculator.
If a flat shipping cost is specified, US Buyers (domestic) pay FedEx Ground shipping cost and insurance is included. If ground services are described in the auction for continental US delivery, Alaska, Hawaii and International Buyers need to e-mail for shipping costs before bidding to assure accurate shipping costs are quoted. FedEx Ground is the least expensive way to ship heavier auction item(s), with a normal delivery window of (5) business days.
International Buyers (other worldwide) pay USPS International Priority shipping cost and insurance is required. Seller may refuse shipment and cancel auction transaction(s) for International Buyers for whom PayPal shows an "unconfirmed status" as respects an account address.
Please e-mail questions regarding shipping before bidding.
Multiple auction wins may be combined for shipping and e-Bay invoice will reflect the adjustment (normally a savings!).
Item(s) ship within 24-48 hours of receipt of payment (or upon clearance of funds if payment is made by personal check).
Insurance is optional for US Buyers and required for International Buyers. All auction items are packed with the utmost care and attention to detail to assure the safe delivery of your auction purchase. However, insurance is always to be considered for protection against damage or even non-delivery by the shipping carrier.
In the rare event of breakage where insurance is purchased, please immediately notify Seller and retain original packing and shipping box for inspection. Seller normally refunds Buyer in full and looks to shipper for reimbursement, so it is essential the original shipping materials are retained until an insurance claim has cleared. | |
