ANTIQUE FRENCH BOULLE 14" MANTEL CLOCK, VINCENTI c.1855
Absolutely gorgeous antique French Napoleon III era Boulle style 14" mantel or bracket clock with striking red veneers framed in richly gilded bronze, musical instruments in the huge finial and a working Vincenti 1855 marked movement! The last clock we had in this style sold quite some time ago and I've missed it ever since. This one just a wee bit shorter but actually more impressive with the large musical finial and thick, heavy gilded bronze framing. The serpentine shaped clock case is in wood with a mottled red veneer covering its entirety. Stunning (and surely easier to maintain without the brass inlay, as you would find with a Boulle piece). The clock is running, the movement marked by Samuel Vincenti and bears his 1885 Gold Medal marking (the medal awarded at the 1855 World Expo). Ranking right up there with Japy Freres and other renowned French clockmakers, we've offered Vincenti clocks in a variety of cases. This one about as fine as they come, as is the condition. Buy quick or I'll decide not to make the same mistake again and really KEEP it for myself :).
Very good condition. There is a visible crack in the enamel face, circular around the center hole. One restored or filled chip to the red veneer at the top center of the front (just in front of the musical finial). The metal is all intact, all original and heavy bronze. An exceptional piece, don't wait.
