ANTIQUE FRENCH STERLING SILVER BACCARAT PERFUME BOTTLE

Fabulous Antique French Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle, finely crafted by great workmanship, with gilt sterling silver cap and fine cut crystal body. The sterling silver cap is gorgeously vermeil (gold-washed over silver), embellished with surmounted figural decoration on top - it depicting a scene from famous "The fox and the crane" story and adorned by scrolling and flower motif frame. The crystal is finely cutted in fluted body with star-cut on the bottom. It's probably the work of Baccarat's, though unsigned, because Baccarat did not start signing until 1930s. It stands nice 3 7/8" (9.7cm) high x 1 5/8" (4.3cm) diameter, weight 8.34 oz (236.5g)

As hallmarks we have The French Minerva No.1 (twice), which indicates the best quality of French sterling silver 950/1000 (purer than .925 sterling!) used in Paris since 1838. As maker's mark we have of "Mme Regina Benvenisti", 8 rue Martel, active in Paris since 1893. Date of struck off is unknown. It also stamped number "53", probably a serial number or quantity of gold.

This gorgeous Antique French Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle is in Excellent Condition as age! There is a very minor dent and some scratches on the surface of silver, but still in very good shape as age. Crystal is in quite excellent condition, free from any chip or crack.
