DESCRIPTION: This is an old fully-jointed teddy bear with black shoe button eyes from the estate of a 96-year old woman. A member of her family told me they found it on the upper shelf in her closet when they were getting ready to sell her estate. It has a jointed head, arms, and legs, and has a stitched nose and mouth. I don‘t know if he was made in Germany, the U.S. of America, or England. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know, so that I can add it to the listing.
MATERIALS: Mohair and wool felt paw pads?; probably straw or excelsior stuffed possibly with cotton batting outer layer under the mohair which makes him feel softer
DIMENSIONS: Almost 19“ tall
CONDITION: This bear was well-loved. His joints are loose, but they are still solidly holding on, and he can hold a seated pose. His head tends to lean to the left probably because his head is heavy and his neck joint disc (atop his shoulders) is warped down on that side. His two shoe button eyes are not exactly the same size, so one of them may have been replaced at one time. He has stitching that was placed across his left foot long ago to keep the stuffing in. There is a loose string at his left hip. He has probably been re-stitched some down the center of his back. His fur and paw pads have some worn thin spots here and there, but nothing dramatic. He is pretty dirty and his fur is pretty flat. A bear expert could probably clean and brush him to make a dramatic difference to his appearance.
Still, with all the above mentioned flaws, this is a loveable old bear who is waiting for a new home. I like the way he looks, just as he is.
