ANTIQUE LACE LARGE FANCY WEARABLE CHEMICAL LACE COLLAR
This vintage machine chemical lace collar dates from the turn of the century. The name "chemical" refers to the corrosive process used to make the lace. In making the lace, the design is machine-embroidered in a lock stitch on a substrate like a chemically treated cloth or paper. The chemical process was used to imitate handmade laces. This is a treasure of early 20th century fashionable lace accessory. The piece was worn as a neck adornment. The design is busy, but still is graceful. The variety and complexity of the flowers, leaves and scrolling add lots of interest to this piece. MEASUREMENT: 35-1/2" inside neck line edge. 6-1/2" deep at center. Condition is excellent with no broken brides, and the material is strong. This collar needs a wash from years of storage and non use. Has become yellow with age and will be white when washed. Would look lovely basted on a velvet dress, framed, or simply, to add to your collection. You can find other vintage estate lace collars in MY EBAY STORE.
