Antique Mourning Brooch~Lace Pin 9Ct.Surrounded by Pearls





 

 

An antique mourning or lace pin inset with woven light brown hair. Small and delicate, the pin is a gentle reminder of a time when people expressed their sentiments by wearing jewelry containing hair of a loved one.

 

The light brown hair is beautifully woven and protected behind the glass bezel. The hair is surrounded by small pearls, set on rose gold base that has both a C-clasp and a small hook on the reverse side.  Circa 1850

 

Condition; very good antique condition, a few surface scratches on the glass and a nibble in the upper left hand corner. The gold has been tested and is of 9Ct or higher quality. The glass and seed pearls are tight. The c-clasp works well, the small loop on the back may have been a later addition; however it does offer another option for wearing the pin.
