HISTORY
The word Nippon itself translates to the word Japan, the country known as the land of the rising sun. The maple leaf mark found on this piece was first issued by the Morimura Brothers in 1891 and was used until 1911-1915.
DESCRIPTION
The vase is double handled with a ruffled opening and disk base. The vase is glazed in varying shades of green with both hand painted and moriage floral decoration.
A motif of vining moriage leaves accents the four petaled flower sprays.
The base carries the green imprinted Nippon maple leaf backstamp.
CONDITION
This Nippon vase is in excellent condition and free of any damage to either the porcelain or the moriage decoration such as chips, cracks, flea bites, repairs, or crazing. This antique vase has come from a smoke free estate collection and is odor free.
