FALL DIY PROJECT - Tambour needs to be reattached/inserted - draw reassembled - the height from the floor to the top is 46" - the desk top is 50" long and 32" deep and about 16" high which is one piece - the top can be separated from the 2 pedestal draws - so you have 3 pieces in all for pick-up purposes - the height from the floor to the desk top is 30" which is the height of the 2 pedestals Additional research: found that in 1881 Abner Cutler was the first to patent a roll-top (i.e the first patent) in 1881- all I've found are pictures of pedestal based C shaped CUTLER made roll tops which are popular antiques - their tops look like the "standing" roll top (but with legs - not pedestals) - it's not clear if Cutler ever made standing roll tops (Cutler Desk Co., Buffallo NY) - it's possible that The Standard Furniture Company circa 1908 to 1978 acquired Cutlers assets and subsequently built standing "Cutler style" roll tops - however this roll top appears to be more primitive than roll tops illustrated around 1910 suggesting that itcould have been made pre-1900 - based on pictures of other rolltop desks I've seen and the the fact I bought it as an antique in the '70's also suggests it could be pre-1900 which would give some credence to the idea that it was made by Abner Cutler - however I've seen no pictures of "standing" roll tops dating pre-1900 yet S shape Oak "standing" roll top - very nice - needs repair & waiting for TLC Purchased in the late 60's early 1970's "as an antique" from antique shop in greenwich Village NYC by (not so handy) seller - picture assembled was taken about 1.5 years ago without the loose drawer & loose roll top leaf that fell out - we took the base & pedestals apart since it's very easy to detach the top from the 2 drawer pedestal bases to make it easier to move it - the top lifts off each of the 2 drawer standing pedestals that it rests upon 2 pull out leafs above the drawers on the pedestals - lots of small slide out storage pigeon drawers & mail slots The Center drawer fell apart (not broken) and needs to be put back together. The desk has not been refinished yet since I purchased it - the roll down tambour also came off during a recent move and needs to be reattached/repaired - but nothing is missing so a handy collector or professional can easily fix and the picture of it assembled was taken about 1.5 years ago - all in all it's in pretty good shape and ready to be put back together - repaired and refinished/restored A STEAL!
