ANTIQUE PERKINS MARINE LANTERN COPPER HUGE!

This is a large heavy duty antique Perkins Marine Lantern that has been MADE ELECTRIC. The lantern is copper with a nice aged patina. The lantern measures 19” tall to the top of the handle (16” tall top of lantern with handle down). The diameter is 7” at the base. This heavy duty copper lantern has original hardware fittings on back where it hangs on a wall….see my photo which shows the back side. The glass is protected behind a heavy grill front that won’t allow the handle on top to come down on the glass. The curved glass is very thick, clean , and without cracks. This lantern has the manufacturer’s embossed identification/ maker’s mark on the front at the bottom which reads, “ M’F’R’D by Perkins Marine Lamp Corprn Brooklyn-New York”. I have included a photo of this mark. This lantern was made electric a long time ago. There is an old bakelite round plug and cord attached to the old fuel tank that goes up inside the lantern. See my photo which shows the fuel tank (now with a light bulb). This fuel tank was designed to clip in and out nicely and still functions like this. Light works but as this is a very old re-wire so I would have electrician check it out first. The handle on the top swivels and has a ring at the top to hang. It is heavy solid copper. Note there is a small dent on the top hood at the front. This lantern came from estate in Cairo, Illinois and was probably from a barge as this is a river town on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. This awesome old lantern is in really nice condition and you will love the aged copper look and appreciate how well built it is. The Perkins Marine Lantern Company is a 6 generation old American company that still makes high quality marine lamps (now based in Florida). This is an early model and the Perkins name was later changed to “Perko”. This lantern is 10lbs in shipping box.
