ANTIQUE PIETA STATUE





The Blessed Mother Holds her son Jesus Christ
after he has been taken off
of the crucifix.


It depicts her love and sorrow that her son has been taken from this earth.

His body Pierced and beaten as she holds him for a moment.
This is one of my favorite statues as it really does show
how Our Blessed Mother also suffered such a great deal so that
we could have her son leave this world and give his life
for our own sins and for the promise of an eternity with God forever.

The white or ivory part of the statue appears to be carved. I honestly do
not know if it is a ivory, resin or other type of material.
It is not light weight such as a celluloid yet more heavy as though it was of rock.

On the side of the statue it is carved Pieta.

I honestly have been torn as If I should keep this beloved gift or
sell it and share the beauty with another who will honor it as I have.

The base is square and of stone.
The statue its self is about 3 1/2 inches tall.
Perfect for desk or devotional area.
I had her kept by my candles and praying area.
This is one of a kind- I only have this one and have been yet to see another
identical to this over the past 20 years.
