If you collect RS Prussia items, you will probably recognize this as "the lily mold", which is how most collectors refer to it. In "the books", it is called "mold #29". This dish is longer than most relish dishes and we believe it to be a calling card tray. Relish dishes are usually about 7" long and this tray is 9 1/2" long. However, this appears in "Collector's Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia - Third Series" by Mary Frank Gaston on page 48, plate 74, where it is called a relish dish. The tray is molded in relief with a scalloped edge which is hand painted to resemble flowers. In the center of the bowl there is a large opening rose similar to the "peace rose", which is yellow with a touch of pink, on a pale blue background with white stenciled foilage. The overall background is white, and there are pink and yellow roses on the 'scallops' of the dish. The "lily mold" lilies are very pale blue and white, and there are gold stenciled floral designs between them. There is an open handle on each end, and they are outlined in gold.
The dish, or tray, measures 9 1/2" long and is 4 1/2" across.
CONDITION: One of the points which are on each end of the handles is chipped in the back. We have attempted to take a photo for you. It is a flake-like chip about 1/4" long. Our opening bid reflects this little "old age sign" on this beauty, which presents beautifully for a true antique piece of porcelain.
