Castle Gates

proudly presents this rare and unique:

Antique Silver, Bone, Turquoise Gemstone Scimitar Dagger Knife from the Middle East!

Eval $825

This is a beautiful piece made in the ancient traditions; an antique silver curved scimitar dagger made with bone, pure silver, turquoise and red turquoise gemstones embellished with ornate details and the head of the beast fashioned in silver on the pommel. This is a difficult to obtain item from the closed and secretive Middle East! It has been slightly dulled for safety. The belt strap has been replaced (likely 60 years ago). The silver and this entire piece has been cleaned and polished; restored to its original lustre.
This antiquity has been evaluated at $750

(this is NOT a reproduction)

Item:  Antique Scimitar

Size:  35cm long x 4.5cm wide; blade 22cm long x 2.8cm

Provenance: Middle East (details on cert)

Material:   Silver, Red & Standard Turquoise Gemstones, Bone, Leather

Period (approx): 18th-Early 19th Century

Condition:  Excellent considering age, fully restored in detail, newer belt strap

Research
&
Sources
Castle Gates will not tolerate forgeries or replicas passed off as authentic. We are hobby collectors whose interests are in archaeological sites, individual explorers, shipwrecks, purchasing collections from individuals, estates, inheritances, local and worldwide auction houses, our own excavation& metal detecting excursions, museum discontinuance, governmental sales and metal detecting individuals/clubs throughout the world. We are always open to new avenues of acquiring items of archaeological interest (if any of you would be interested) and sharing with others. We research each of our antiquities for authenticity, provenance, material & likelihood of finding a particular item given the conditions of discovery. If you are unsure if an item is authentic, we would be happy to assist best we can (free of charge). Inevitably an item can even slip through the hands of world renowned auction houses; for this reason we offer a money back guarantee with no ill feelings. We remain humble in our years of formal degrees and informal education: “The more we learn, the less we know.” We are honest sellers doing our best to share our enthusiasm and love for antiquities (and other interesting items) with a spirit of honesty, respect, honour and dignity. For references; Read from our partial reference list below, or check with  Bonham’s,  Sotheby’s, Doyle’s New York and Christie’s worldwide auction houses; they have been very kind to us.

On May-21-08 at 15:39:25 PDT, seller added the following information:

IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE LEFT NEGATIVE FOR ANY SELLERS IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS or have a score under 10, YOU NEED ASK PERMISSION TO BID
(we need to know the specifics and your communication efforts causing the negative). Please understand we do not like to do this; we are trying to reduce mean-spirited activity, treating ALL with kindness and respect. Failure to comply will result in a global category bidder's block (making it impossible to buy from all sellers in this category), sharing your ID in the seller's feedback abuse consortium.
We strive for good communication and fairness to ALL (buyers and sellers alike). Unwelcome malicious bidders will be reported; at risk of losing eBay privileges for life (regardless of IDs).  We apologize for the inconvenience. Please understand feedback is permanent and this is the only way we can join together to prevent the very few who engage in malicious feedback abuse. If there's a problem, always communicate first so we can correct your concern (it's the right thing to do)!
