It appears to be cast brass with a tinned interior. We are not positive, but we think that the exterior was originally silvered. The bottom shows what appears to be old silver, however, the sides of the beaker appear to be worn or polished through to the brass. The beaker is approximately 4 1/8" in height with a top diameter of 3 3/4". The piece is heavy and weighs about 1 ½" lbs. There is no maker's mark on it. The rim edge on the top and the bottom of the footrail are milled (like a coin edge). At the shoulders the beaker has double ring incised decoration. We think it actually formed the edges of a foliate band that disappeared from wear. The beaker has a flat dent to the rim. There are no dents to the body and there are no repairs. The body surface has ubiquitous almost microscopic pitting. It is not immediately visible to the naked eye but is evident under a loupe. However, the piece, while showing 300 years of wear, is stout and displays well.
