I really thought this was such a beautiful painting when I first saw it in an antique mall yesterday. It is on old artist's board , housed in a beautiful unusual gesso frame with flowers and heavy, thick leaves . It depicts a Springtime scene in the country, with blossoming trees and bushes, a wood slat fence encircling the property..and a farm in the distance. It is unsigned, but is dated 1901 or 7 or 9..cannot quite make it out..but whichever it is 100 years old, ( I know except for the 1909 ). It measures 12 x 9 1/2 ins. WITHOUT the frame and 16 x 14 ins. WITH the frame. I would consider the painting to be in very good/excellent condition and the frame to be in fair/good condition with areas of inner gesso molding chipped off. My favorite element in this painting, besides the flwering trees..is the uncanny use of color the artist used to create the sky..it is a lavender/bluish color with perfect soft , wispy clouds..absolutely perfect sky. Any questions , please email me.
