ITEM DESCRIPTION
Up for your consideration is an excellent antique stained glass lamp, c. 1920. After several months of research, I've concluded that it is likely of Spanish origin (based on past auction cataloques and records). The quality of the craftmanship most resembles the work of Duffner & Kimberly, with perfectly geometrical glass and thin & precise soldering work.
As you can see, the colors really pop. The colors include a yellowish tan (rather than caramel), tomato red, and a verdant green, which is very reminiscent of the Spanish flag.
The base is also interesting and unique. It is made of solid, hammered copper, that carries a rich green patina. It features copper leaves extending up the neck. Interestingly, the matrial used to solder the glass piece is also copper.
The lamp accepts 4 small sized bulbs, the bulb size is the standard size that fits into most lighted vanity mirrors, and they can be commonly found at any hardware store.
CONDITION
The condition of this piece is excellent thoughout. There are 3 tight age-related cracks in the glass that can only be seen through close inspection, and should not be repaired. They do not distract, and are very common for pieces of this age. There are no other flaws. The lamp has been professionally rewired, and the lamp works perfectly. An on/off switch has been added
SIZE
This lamp measures 27" tall, and the base is 9.5" in diameter. The shade is 21" in diameter at its widest point.
