This special pre-holiday no reserve auction is for a true art deco period Waltham 14K solid gold 12s open face pocket watch dated 1908. This fine timepiece is in mint condition but for a superfine spiderline on the enamel dial at the 7 to 9 o'clock position. The snow white double-sunk enamel dial has large black Arabic numerals with red 5 minute markers at the outer edge of the dial. It has a small second sweep dial at the bottom. The hands are the original blue steel spade-type in excellent condition with no corrosion. All covers open properly to 90 degrees and snap tightly shut with no looseness. The watch is completely ding/damage-free and keeps perfect time. It has been freshly cleaned and oiled. It is stem wind & set, a true art deco period Waltham pocket watch. It winds smoothly and purrs like a kitten, keeping perfect time. 

The case diameter is 45mm and is 13mm thick. The movement diameter is 36mm. The watch weighs a heavy 64.9 grams. To determine the approximate gold value in a pocket watch you divide the total weight by three, making the gold value alone in this fine antique pocket watch at just under $400.00!

The high-grade 17 jewel movement is pristine with a beautiful sparkling damaskeened finish. The movement is engraved "A. W. W. CO. WALTHAM, MASS. 17 JEWELS 16,935,356". The movement number accurately dates this extraordinary timepiece to 1908. The entire watch is solid 14K gold except for the movement and original crystal, which is in excellent condition. The inside of the rear cover is marked "14 KARAT SOLIDARITY 234904". The inside of the solid 14K gold cuvee has a bright damaskeened/scalloped finish and is marked with the matching number "234904". The back of the rear cover has a large decorative monogram that looks more like a decoration than a monogram. There is basically no wear to any of the gold surfaces. This antique solid 14K gold Waltham pocket watch is about as fine as it gets. The perfect gift for the fine antique pocket watch collector. Gold is headed nowhere but up, so you have a double investment piece here...as a fine antique collectible pocket watch as well as an excellent 14K gold investment!
