BRASS AND BAKELITE CANDLESTICK TELEPHONE

This auction is for a ca. 1921 brass Western Electric candlestick telephone with a bakelite mouthpiece and a #2 dial (see question from a knowledgable observer below) in marvelous condition. I can't say that this phone is like new, but it's in unbelievable condition for its age. Just the right touch of minor tarnish here or there to add to the vintage look. There are no serious dings, scratches, corrosion, or other bad things to mention. On the negative side, there is a crack in the Bakelite mouthpiece shown in the photos and the number display assembly is somewhat loose. Nevertheless, the essentials on this telephone are in excellent condition...even the cord is outstanding shape. Finally, I've taken a lot of photos to assist you in being the final judge.

The telephone is marked on the back of the top section "Property of the American Bell Telephone Company. There are also a number of patent dates ranging from 1912 to 1921, hence the guess of age as 1921. It is marked as being made by the Western electric Company.

The telephone is 11-1/2 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches in diameter at the base. It weighs about 4 lbs. (unpackaged). All mechanics seem to work fine, but I have no idea whether it is functional.

Shipping charges within the Continental U.S. are $14.95 via USPS Parcel Post Mail. Shipping insurance is included. I will ship internationally at my actual costs for shipping and insurance, but there is a $7.00 International Handling Fee. All items will be well packaged to insure safe shipment.

Payments are due within 5 days of the auction close. PayPal, cash payment upon pickup, or personal checks are acceptable. However, payment via personal check must first be approved by the Seller (dependent on the Buyer's quality feedback record). Checks will be held for clearance prior to shipment.

Note: After the fact, I unscrewed the receiver mouthpiece and found that the element was missing. The electrical connections are all there, but the element is not. Please take this into account when bidding. Sorry for the oversight.
