ANTIQUE YARN WINDER / STRING HOLDER TOOL POSS. SHAKER
(This week: a fine collection of early Shaker and hand made sewing items! Check out my other items!)

This finely formed 19th c. string or yarn winder has a fine, delicate form typical of Shaker work, where even the most utilitarian objects are refined and aesthetically pleasing. The piece has a translucent light yellow hue to the thin varnish. Every detail is finely carved and it feels light yet substantial in the hand. The dowels are pegged into the top and bottom. A cotter pin keeps the winding piece on the handle. A great piece of folk art.

CONDITION: Excellent condition; just a very small, smooth nick in the bottom of the handle (see photo).
