This extremely rare white opal Abalone shell specimen/gem was recently mined on the Old 15 Mile opal field of Coober Pedy Australia.

Collectors specimens like this are becoming increasingly rare due to the major fields being mostly worked out and declining mining activity.

This specimen displays stunning multicolor bars running through the piece and has been left with it's pristine natural fossil definition apart from the polished underside.

WEIGHT: 243 carats.

DIMENSIONS: Around mm by 80 mm by 57 mm by around 11 mm thick.

BRIGHTNESS: A nice 3 out of 5 all over flashing to a brilliant 4 on the best color.

This stone would probably yield 50 to 70 carats of gem but is certainly better left as a world class specimen.

This amazing specimen would be significantly enhanced if the underside was professionally carved and polished as the fire lines run right across the face and we haven't fully cleaned and exposed them.
