This book has a clean, straight, deep red binding, with the title and library index number in black on the spine. The cover has some light edge, corner, and surface wear. This book is a plea to the churches to recognize the necessity of aesthetic beauty and its role in worship, a history of some of its symbols, sacraments, liturgy, and music, and an explanation of some of the uses of art and architecture in religious framework. A number of crisp black and white half-tone plates illustrate carvings, churches, music, and items used in worship.
