ART DECO HOLLYWOOD REGENCY BRONZE CANNON DESK CLOCK

Offered is a finely made gilt bronze and lacquer desk clock in the form of a cannon, with a watch size mechanical movement mounted inside the open end. The barrel is beautifully machine turned with wide lacquered bands alternating with narrow raised bronze bands. The wheels are machined and cut rather than cast, and the carriage is cut from thick bronze sheet. The precision of the fabrication is exceptional. The clock face is black with raised and faceted gold chapters, and there is a date window at the 6 position. The face is signed Mentor. It is in excellent original condition with light spotty tarnishing but no areas of oxidization. The barrel is slightly loose, but I don’t have the right screwdriver to tighten down the screws. The lacquer is in excellent condition. It measures 5” in overall length and 3” across the axel.
