Faith Moran is a founding minister of Spiritual Life Center with her husband, Reverend Michael Moran. In 2002, Faith began to experience a loss of memory that concerned her. Doctors told her she was fine, but Faith knew something wasn’t quite right. In the fall of 2003, Faith traveled to Minnesota for medical tests at the Mayo Clinic. After several days of extensive testing, Faith was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder for which there is no known cure.
Faith searched for the spiritual meaning of her challenge, while continuing to grace the congregation of Spiritual Life Center with her humor and insight. Faith and Michael have been living examples of courage and honesty. Faith realized she could no longer devote the same amount of time to the ministry she loved and in the spring of 2004, Faith Moran retired from Spiritual Life Center. Years earlier, well known artist Brenda Boles had taken a class from Faith. As a result of Faith’s encouragement and support, Brenda made the decision to devote herself to something that fed her soul as well as her body. She began painting full time. As Faith’s participation at Spiritual Life Center decreased, Brenda recognized an opportunity to give something back to the woman who had supported her so lovingly. She began painting with Faith. Faith’s story has touched many lives in the Sacramento Interfaith community. Faith has demonstrated incredible courage in her willingness to show up and continue to be present and provide prayer support. Faith has donated her artwork to Spiritual Life Center.
Faith’s goal is to “pay it forward” for the generous contributions that she and Rev. Michael Moran received as ministerial candidates. Ten percent of the proceeds from Faith’s artwork are donated to the Faith Moran and Gladys Branscum Scholarship Fund to assist Unity students who are in ministerial training programs.
Her artwork has deeply touched many people. As Faith’s journey continues to unfold, we hold Faith and Michael in our prayers and in our hearts. Join with us to celebrate this “new career” of Faith’s and raise money for SLC and the Scholarship Fund. A great idea for gift giving.
