This rare CD is brand new and sealed in shrinkwrap. Every summer the city of Athens, GA- legendary home of R.E.M., Widespread Panic, B-52s and more- hosts an annual music festival called AthFest. Athens label Ghostmeat Records releases a CD to showcase the local bands.

The AthFest 1998 CD includes 19 bands. Highlights include rare and exclusive songs from Athens greats including Jack Logan, New West Records recording artist Vic Chesnutt, Touch & Go Records recording artists Man Or Astroman?, Drivin' n' Cryin' frontman Kevn Kinney, Five Eight and many more.

Logan kicks things off with the rowdy "Thorns And The Nails." Chesnutt covers Phil Ochs' "Scorpion Departs But Never Returns." Man Or Astroman? gives us "LO-BAT." Kinney and friends sing a clever ode to Bob Dylan called "Highway 316 Revisited (Dylan Ripoff)." Five Eight covers Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love." All of these recordings are exclusive to this release.

Other highlights include rare and exclusive tracks by Vigilantes Of Love, Velocette Records recording artists Jucifer and New West Records artists Drive-By Truckers who contribute a cut from their debut Gangstabilly.
