This is an Atmos clock, made and sold by Jaeger Le Coultre, a well known Swiss company. This clock is like New, it runs, and keeps perfect time ! The only negative I can make or say about this clock is that it was originally presented as a corporate award and had a presentation plaque on the front at the base. Previous owner removed plaque before selling, and it left the lacquer finish dulled in that area, as well as a few fine surface scratches. Hard to see at 2 feet away, and difficult to even get a picture of :(
I did my best to get a close up of the area. I can assure you it can be refinished along the front by a quality jeweler or clock repair for less than 100.00$ ! You can find total restoration services on line for under 500.00$ so to brush plate the small scratches, and lacquer and polish the front of the base 100.00$ would be an excessive amount ! Anther option would to be to have a new presentation plaque made ( about 20.00$ :) and apply it over the same area making it a more personalized item and bringing it to visual Perfection :)
There are no other defects, blemishes, or problems !
The name Atmos infers that it runs on the atmospheric pressure changes. It in fact runs on temperature changes. It winds with as little as a 2 degree change in temperature. This is accomplished by an ingenious set of bellows, filled with a compound gas that is very volatile at normal room temperature and causes the bellows to expand and contract with a small temperature change. This expansion and contraction though a small chain, pulleys and a ratchet system winds the mainspring, which powers the clock. These are sometimes called perpetual motion clocks, because they do not require winding. It's a misnomer, but effective marketing.
This clock was made by Jaegar Le Coultre, a famous swiss firm, who continues to make these clocks today.
It is marked Cal. 540 ( Cal. = model ) on the bottom. Ser. # is 620,399 making it mid 1980's

* The only thing else I would like to say about shipping is this : I have never sipped such an item ! I will carefully package and pack it to insure there will be no damage. I know to lock down the mechanism before shipping, and will. I will also at the buyers discretion pack the internals ( inside the glass case ) to your specifications as far as possible to insure secure arrival ! I will mark the box at every side with the word FRAGILE in large print, but I do not have any idea as to what could or can happen in transit ! If you have a preferred shipper I will be glad to work with you on that as well. The Free Shipping is based on the use of US Priority Mail through the US post office. I will insure the package at the true additional cost of the insurance at your request ( Ebay will not let me make it optional any more ! ) Sorry to go long on the shipping, but rather you know up front :)
