UP FOR AUCTION IS AN EXTREMELY RARE, ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ICON

MEDIA;   WOOD, EGG TEMPERA, LEVKAS/GESSO

SIZE;    MAGNIFICIENT  15 3/4" X 13 1/2" X 1" THICK

Eastern Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Rare five part icon from the late 1700s

Excellent Condition and normal wear for age.  Slight loss of Gesso in a few places. Wood is intact and slight curvature due to age.

Scenes surrounding center cross depict important events before and after crusifiction with Christ as subject of each.

Size is large and suitable for serious collector. 

Beautifully detailed images.  Moving and inspirational piece.
